HPZ Health & Safety Policy

The employer, HPZ Crusher Services Inc., and its management team are vitally interested in the health and safety of its workers. Protection of workers from injury or occupational disease is a continuing objective.

HPZ will make every effort to provide a safe, healthy work environment. All owners, supervisors and workers must be dedicated to the continuing objective of reducing risk of injury.

HPZ, the employer, is ultimately responsible for worker health and safety. As an owner and President of HPZ, I give you my personal commitment that I will comply with my duties under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, such as taking every reasonable precaution for the protection of workers in the workplace.

Supervisors will be held accountable for the health and safety of workers under their supervision. Supervisors are subject to various duties in the workplace, including the duty to ensure that machinery and equipment are safe and that workers work in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures. Carol Miron, Chief of Operations, and Samantha Rolfe, Operations Manager, oversee HPZ’s Health and Safety Program to ensure there are funds to support health and safety activities and that everyone has the time, training and support to participate in and contribute to our Program.

Every worker must protect his or her own health and safety by working in compliance with the law and with safe work practices and procedures established by HPZ. “Worker responsibilities include: reporting hazards in the workplace; working safely and following safe work practices; using the required personal protective equipment for the job at hand; participating in health and safety programs established for the workplace.”[1] Policies and procedures included in this handbook are: Workplace Violence and Harassment Policy, Compliance and Skills Training Courses, Personal Protective Equipment Policy, First Aid Policy, Personal Emergency Leave Policy, Workplace Inspection Procedure. Workers will also receive information, training and competent supervision in their specific work tasks to protect their health and safety.

Every employee, including contractors and sub-contractors, must comply with the Safe Work procedures and practices and are required to report any deficiencies, incidents, injuries or property damage immediately. Please refer to the First Aid Policy for what to do in the case of injury. In the event you should sustain an injury, HPZ will make every reasonable effort to provide suitable return to work opportunities for every employee who is unable to perform his or her regular duties following a work-related injury or illness.

It is in the best interest of all parties to consider health and safety in every activity. Commitment to health and safety must form an integral part of this organisation, from the president to the workers.
