Mobile Service Plans and Devices Policy
For some HPZ managers and supervisors, communication using a mobile device is essential to their work duties. Below are the guidelines HPZ uses to support and provide these communication needs
MOBILE SERVICE PLANS
HPZ Crusher Services provides and manages the individual’s mobile service plan. On the Date of Issue, this was provided by Telus Mobility.
HPZ mobile service plans are not taxable benefits and are not subject to income tax, CPP or EI withholding.
HPZ notifies individuals of the services included at the commencement of their mobile service plan contract and when service plan changes are made.
Individuals may use their HPZ provided mobile service for personal use.
Individuals will reimburse HPZ Crusher Services Inc. any additional charges resulting from personal use within 60 days.
Records of HPZ mobile service statements are kept for a minimum of 7 years as required by the Canada Revenue Agency.
MOBILE DEVICES
Individuals provided with an HPZ mobile service plan are expected to provide their own mobile device.
Individuals may claim a Mobile Device Allowance, up to $250 CAD per year, to offset the cost of purchasing of a mobile device.
Allowances may be applied to the purchase of ONE mobile device in a calendar year, excluding accessories.
Unused allowances in a calendar year may be accumulated and applied to a mobile device purchase in the future.
Status of an individual’s allowance is available in their monthly Pay Statement.
To make an allowance claim, individuals must complete the HPZ Expense Claim Google Form and submit a picture of their itemized receipt.
Mobile device allowance claims are taxable benefits and are subject to income tax, CPP and EI withholding on the employee's payroll statement when the reimbursement is made.
The reimbursement amount will be based on the accumulated unused allowance available and the purchase cost of the device.
Reimbursement will be made by direct deposit on the next payroll cycle, in 4 to 6 weeks.
